About this bottle
Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Cured Oak Bottled in Bond is a highly sought-after, limited-edition bourbon produced by the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky. Part of the respected E.H. Taylor line, it is crafted to meet the strict requirements of the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897, meaning it is the product of a single distilling season, aged in a federally bonded warehouse for at least four years, and bottled exactly at 100 proof (50% ABV).
The defining feature of this expression is its unique barrel-aging process. While standard white oak staves for Buffalo Trace barrels are seasoned outdoors for roughly 6 months, the staves used for the Cured Oak barrels are open-air seasoned for 13 months (more than double the standard timeline). This extended curing process alters the wood chemistry, allowing the whiskey to extract deeper, richer, and more mature elements from the oak without picking up the harsh bitterness often associated with heavily wooded bourbons.

Given the age of the bottles and seals, the condition of the liquid is at the buyer’s discretion. Bottles can be insured against breakage or loss, not leakage.

About the distillery
Buffalo Trace Distillery is a distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky, owned by the Sazerac Company. It has historically been known by several names, including the George T. Stagg Distillery and the Old Fashioned Copper (O.F.C.) Distillery. Its namesake bourbon brand, Buffalo Trace Kentucky Straight Bourbon whiskey, was introduced in August 1999. The company claims the distillery is the oldest continuously-operating distillery in the United States. The company says the name "Buffalo Trace" refers to an ancient buffalo crossing on the banks of the Kentucky River in Franklin County, Kentucky. The Sazerac Company purchased the distillery in 1992.
