Description
On 19th August 1561, Mary, already Queen Dowager of France, returned to her native land to ascend the Throne of Scotland. Her mother in law, Catherine de Medici, had introduced the french court to the fashion for drinking curative tonics for pleasure, then all the rage in her native Italy. Tradition has it that Mary brought to Scotland an ancient recipe for Mil nan Gaidheal, the 'Elixir of the Gaels'. Cairns Scotch Whisky Liqueur is a recreation of this secret recipe and is made from Elderberries soaked in Highland Heather Honey blended with Fine Old Scotch Whisky.
