About this bottle

The Hakushu Japanese Forest Bittersweet Edition is a limited edition, non-age-stated single malt Japanese whisky released in late 2023, primarily for Japanese travel retail. It is known for its complex flavor profile and is exclusively aged in Spanish oak (sherry) casks, which impart its distinctive bittersweet character.

Lot Conditions

Bottles in this auction are never classed as brand new. Boxes, bottles and packaging may carry marks or creases due to age. Please inspect the photographs closely before bidding, and contact us for an in-depth condition report: if a report is not requested, lots are sold as seen.

Given the age of the bottles and seals, the condition of the liquid is at the buyer’s discretion. Bottles can be insured against breakage or loss, not leakage.

  • A 12.5% + VAT buyer’s premium is added to the hammer price.
  • Payment is due within three days of the auction ending. After that, a further 5% + VAT of the hammer price is added.
  • Bids are binding. By bidding you accept the terms and conditions.

About the distillery

Hakushu distillery is a Japanese whisky distillery. It is owned by the Suntory group, and situated in the Toribara locality of the former town of Hakushū (now part of Hokuto), in the Yamanashi Prefecture, Chūbu region, Japan.

The distillery was established in 1973, in the forest on the slopes of Mount Kaikoma. In 1981, it was expanded by the commissioning of a second Hakushu East site, near the original site, now called Hakushu West. All production is now focused on the new site.
