Description
An old bottling of the very popular liqueur, Benedictine which we estimate is from the 1940s.
This bottle's story :-
Dunkirk 1940 - Flight sergeant George Stanley was shot down after attempting to destroy artillery and destroy road networks to aid evacuating
Troops and shipping.
After 2 days travel , assisted by French Resistance he and the surviving crew arrived at the beach. They were told to ditch there RAF UNIFORM. and change into Army clothing and wait there turn to be evacuated.
It soon became evident. That there location was dangerous. Soon moving along the beach to stay in the town of Dunkirk. Here they assisted local people to clear building, for this help my farther was rewarded with the Bottle you now see.
George returned to England and went on fight over Italy and in India.
